Position:

The Program in Linguistics and Cognitive Science at Dartmouth College
invites applications for a tenure track position in Sociolinguistics at the
rank of Assistant Professor to begin July 1, 2008. Candidates should hold a
PhD in linguistics by Fall 2008. Duties will include teaching a broad range
of courses at the undergraduate level (four courses per year), advising,
supervision of student research, and implementation of an original research
program.

Qualifications:

Top consideration will be given to those candidates whose research is
informed by the collection of primary linguistic data from lesser studied
or endangered languages. Applicants should have a solid, well-defined
research agenda in sociolinguistics, preferably in the areas of, language
contact, pidgins/creoles, language variation or dialectology. In addition,
applicants should have experience with undergraduate instruction and a
commitment to teaching excellence.

sample publication or piece of written work in pdf format, and teaching
evaluations (if available). In addition, applicants should arrange for

Interviews will be held in January, 2008, at the LSA meeting in Chicago.
