The BBC weekly radio programme *Word of Mouth* is a 30-minute slot on language
in the widest sense - going from basic linguistics to language policy and
further. Half the programme this week is devoted to a survey of language
policy in the bilingual societies of Quebec, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Little in it will be news to people on this list, but you might be interested
to hear what's said: the possible definitions of 'bilingual society' are
covered, and there's an interesting interview with Graham Fraser, Canada's
Commissioner of Official Languages.
The programme will be available until the next one is broadcast, which will be
10 September 2007 at 11.00pm UK time (5.00pm EDT).
