Wales slammed on foreign language learning
Wales's record on foreign language learning is abysmal and without
urgent remedial action it will only get worse, it was claimed today.
New statistics show that the percentage of 15 year olds entering at
least one GCSE in a modern foreign language has fallen each year, from
41 per cent in 1999 to 28 per cent in 2007
Shadow Education Minister Andrew Davies AM said: "This is an
all-too-regular, depressing demonstration of the Assembly Government's
failure to ensure more young people learn a foreign language at
school.
