Academics at Exeter University are attempting to tackle children's
lack of interest in learning languages.Activities at the Streatham
campus on Monday are the start of a series of events organised in
partnership with local schools and firms to encourage pupils to start
or continue learning French, Spanish or German.

Making Languages Our Business began last year thanks to a prestigious
European award and is now being copied in other parts of the country.

More than 80 pupils from secondary schools and colleges in Torbay,
Exeter and elsewhere in Devon will be taught the importance of
language in business through role-play scenarios.
