Foreign languages for seven-year-olds



More seven-year-olds in England are being taught a foreign language at
school, figures show.



The proportion of primary school children learning French, Spanish and
German has almost doubled in the last five years, the Government said.



Some children are also being taught Italian, Chinese, Japanese and Urdu.

Ministers insisted they were on track to meet official targets to
ensure all primary pupils learn a language by 2010.
