Cambridge drops language GCSE requirement

a GCSE in a foreign language. The decision will inevitably be seen as
another indicator of falling standards in secondary education. Until

qualifications to at least GCSE standard in English, a foreign
language, maths or a scientific subject, and two other subjects. The
university says it has been forced to review its admission procedures
because standards in language teaching in state schools have fallen so
much that requiring a language GCSE has become tantamount to
discriminating against state school pupils.
