Free English classes for grads
Next time you find it difficult to understand your TA's foreign
accent, just consider how hard it may be for them to understand yours.
Around 3,000 international graduate students are currently enrolled at
NYU. Many of those students struggle with their limited conversational
English skills on a daily basis.
In response, the Office of Student Affairs is offering free English
conversation groups in conjunction with the American Language
Institute. Each class meets once a week for a total of 10 sessions in
various locations across campus ranging from the Kimmel Center to the
Midtown Center on West 42nd Street.
Xingyu Wang, a graduate student studying chemistry, is required by his
department to take English lessons since he works with undergraduate
students.
