Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws related to
English Language Learners. Develop, implement, and monitor
accountability for compliance with all federal, state, and local laws
related to English Learners. Ensure that all K-8 children with a
Primary Home Language other than English are assessed for language
proficiency within the first 30 days of registration and initial
attendance. Develop, initiate, and maintain a system to ensure that
English Learners are assessed as defined by state and federal law.
Ensure that all children, including Special Needs, are properly
identified and receive all appropriate language proficiency testing
and appropriate services. Develop, organize, and manage the collection
and input of student data related to English Learners and coordinate
data processing with business services ADM personnel. Plan, organize,
manage, and direct the improvement of education for Pre K-8 English
Learners throughout the district; create, enhance, and expand the
design of these initiatives. Review and/or conduct educational
research on effective instructional strategies and approaches that
support English Learners. Oversee the design and implementation of the
district’s English Learner programs. Develop professional development
models for improving instruction for administrators.
