International Education Week Kicks Off New, Full Scholarship Program
for High School Students
As International Education Week kicks off, students are reminded to
apply for one of over 500 scholarships to study strategic languages
abroad. The National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y)
is a unique program that teaches languages most students do not have
opportunities to learn in high school, but are rapidly becoming
critical to know, especially when preparing for careers in many
different fields. Sponsored by the Department of State, NSLI-Y is
designed to increase American citizens' capacity to engage foreign
governments and peoples through the critical languages of Arabic,
Mandarin, Persian, Hindi, Korean, Russian and Turkish.
