Rajpurohit-Galaganath remembered

DHARWAD: Primary and secondary education minister Vishweshwar Hegde
Kageri said experimentation in educational field is an inevitable,
ongoing
process and aimed at ushering changes to suit the changing demands.
Inaugurating the symposium on the life and works of famed novelist
Galaganath and researcher Naa Sri Rajpurohit here on Monday, he said
the younger generation should know the rich heritage of our country
and efforts should made to provide them necessary information about
the great achievers of yesteryears. He regretted that the students,
including those at the P-G level, lacked proper knowledge of our rich
cultural and literary heritage. He lauded the efforts being made by
Galaganath-Rajpurohit Pratisthana in making available the great works
of researchers to the people.

Referring to the language row, Kageri said the government had written
to Centre to file an affidavit in the Supreme Court, supporting
Karnataka's stand on language policy. Poet Channaveera Kanavi
explained how he was influenced by Galaganath's novel `Madhava Karuna
Vilasa' and said Galaganath's had done yeomens service in popularizing
Kannada literature. Krishna Kolhar Kulkarni, A R Panchamukhi,
Mallikarjun Metri, Shrinivas Kulkarni, Shymasundar Bidarkundi, Surekha
Kulkarni and R S Sunkad deliberated on various aspects of Rajpurohit
and Galaganath.

The symposium was jointly organized by the department of Kannada and
Culture, JSS College and Galaganath-Rajpurohit Pratisthana. JSS
secretary N Vajra Kumar, Dushyant Nadagouda and Manojkumar Patil
spoke. Giraddi Govindraj, Siddalinga Pattanashetty and Vasant
Rajpurohit were present.
