Proportion of Indian students coming from English-speaking homes doubles
The proportion of Indian students coming from English-speaking homes
has doubled, says Senior Minister of State for Education, S Iswaran.
In 1982, three in 10 Primary 1 Indian students came from homes that
used English. The figure is now six in 10.
Addressing the Tamil language coordinators meeting and sharing session
on Thursday, Mr Iswaran explained that these students have limited
exposure to Tamil before they entered school and started learning the
language.
