[lg policy] how to organise this style

Hi everybody , 
I will appreciate rapid answer from your part :
 
well , I have a book of Myers-Scotton (1993) and I have the 2nd edition (1997) .
I know that in the bibliography , I should write Myers-Scotton (1993 ) ..........[1997 reprint] 
but , the problem raises within my work, shall I write :
Myers-Scotton (1993) states : "........................" 
or rather :  Myers-Scotton (1997) ? 
 
I did not find an anwer from the MLA site . 
 
I am looking forward to reading your anwers .
