Lecture to focus on language policy and ideology in Namibian society

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

>>From noon to 1 p.m. on Feb. 28, Rodney Hopson, Hillman distinguished
professor in the Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership
and the Center for Interpretive and Qualitative Research at Duquesne
University, will present a seminar sponsored by the Interinstitutional
Consortium for Indigenous Knowledge in room 208 of the Ford Building
on Penn State's University Park campus. In his seminar, titled
“Language Policy, Ideology, Rights and Indigenous in Post-Independent
Namibia,” Hopson will reflect on the status of indigenous groups in
current-day Namibia through a discussion of the larger issues and
complexities of language policy and ideology within the Namibian
society and its schools in particular.
