THE WLB IS ABOUT TO GO THE WAY OF WDA AND BE AMALGAMATED INTO WAG, IT
WILL THEN BECOME EVEN HARDER TO MONITOR IT'S SPENDING.

Although there are some encouraging signs in evidence on the language
front, the future of the Welsh language remains in jeopardy, and there
are signs that we are in danger of losing ground in some sectors of
education and Welsh-medium courses are hardly making any headway in
Further Education Colleges. While the language is gaining ground in
some urban areas - and in Cardiff especially – many factors are
combining to undermine the position of the language as a community
language in the traditional “strongholds”. What is needed now is an
injection of resources and activity,
after careful and thorough planning, to bring the Welsh language into
the mainstream of the nation’s life............dafydd iwan
