Turkish transcends geographic borders, universalizes with language Olympiads
Turkey has taken another giant step toward making Turkish a global
language, with the 8th International Turkish Language Olympiads
drawing hundreds of contestants from around the world.
Thousands of spectators jam-packed gigantic halls in several Turkish
cities to watch 750 students from 120 countries in traditional
costumes vying to be named the “best” in their fields. This year’s
dance final was held in Bursa on May 31, the singing final in İstanbul
on June 1 and the poetry final in Konya on June 3. The final ceremony
is slated to be held in İstanbul on June 9.
