[lg policy] PhD. Programs

The problem, as I see it, is that the study of language policy is not
central in any
academic discipline, be it political science, linguistics, sociology,
education, or whatever.
It is always on the margin of whatever the major discipline focuses on, and even
creating an interdisciplinary program, with contributors from various
departments,
is problematical.  In the American cultural context, to complicate
things, multilingualism
is IMHO devalued, seen as problematical and exceptional, and swept
under the rug.
