Dear Bellalem,
your answer corresponds with the statement of Dr HALL Damien who is an english reseacher working on French language .
Just to correct your information, the Algerians are passive bilinguals , which means that they understand french very well , almost all of them , regardless of their social and educational background , however, the actual generation is weak in speaking french except those children whose parents are fluent speakers in French , not like before where all the algerian students could speak and write correctly the french language . Still , the speakers in big cities and a great part not all the entire part of the elite , speaks french correctly .
The fact i used english in France is that i was in place d'opéra where there is a great number of tourists , and a young french asked me in english if i need help, since i am a teacher of englsih i enjoyed the play and carried out the conversation in Englsih .
once againg , thanks for your answer
Mostari
