*Language Coordinator*
POSITION TITLE: Language Coordinator, Education Department, Pueblo of
Pojoaque
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
General Statement of Duties: The Language Coordinator is responsible for
overseeing the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of the Tewa
Language Program at the Pueblo of Pojoaque. They will be responsible for
overseeing staff volunteers and coordinating contract work for the project.
Supervision Received: The Language Coordinator will work under the direct
supervision of the Pueblo of Pojoaque Education Department Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide project oversight to the Pueblo of Pojoaque Tewa Language
Project.
2. Maintain a calendar of language planning activities, projects and
training opportunities.
3. Provide the Department Director with monthly reporting on all
activities, projects, training, upcoming events, concerns and general
progress.
4. Provide technical assistance to language consultants and language
instructors in the development of instructional materials.
5. Provide guidance and leadership to all language staff, volunteers
and language Planning Committee.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Preferred fluency and understanding of the Tewa Language and/or
experience in native language work.
2. Understanding and appreciation of Native American, New Mexico and
Pueblo communities, tradition and culture.
3. Native American preferred.
4. Must comply with all program, Pueblo, state and federal rules,
regulations, policies and procedures.
5. Must carry out all job-related duties and responsibilities in a
professional ethical manner.
6. Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
7. Proficiency with computers, computer graphics and language
instruction materials.
8. Must have excellent organizational skills.
9. College graduate or equivalent in relevant work experience.
