CPLP criticised for lack of Portuguese language policy
Lisbon – The director of the International Institution of Portuguese
Language (IILP), Angolan Amélia Mingas, criticised on Tuesday in
Lisbon the member States of the Portuguese Speaking Countries
Community (CPLP), for the lack of a common policy on the Portuguese
Language. According to her, a true common policy of the language is
not achieved by mere formulations of national policies or strategies.
The 2nd Parliamentary Assembly of the CPLP is closing Wednesday and
has been discussing such topics as “The Portuguese Language, the new
Orthographic Accord and the role played by the International Institute
of Portuguese Language” and “The Challenges and agenda for the 2nd
CPLP Parliamentary Assembly”The Angolan Parliament delegation to the
meeting included the MPs Luís Reis Cuanga, João Melo, Cristóvão da
Cunha, Lúcia Tomás and Lukamba Paulo Gato.
CPLP groups Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, East Timor, Guinea Bissau,
Mozambique, Portugal and Sao Tome and Principe.
