State Language Policy to be implemented at regional levels

The Ministry of National Languages and Social Integration has taken
steps to hand over the authority to the officers of the local
government bodies to implement the State Language Policy at regional
The Ministry stated that the steps are being taken under the guidance
of Minister Vasudeva Nanayakara.

The Ministry pointed out that these steps are being taken after
reviewing the complaints that the state language policy has not been
implemented properly at regional levels. The Ministry added that,
thereby a steps are being taken to hand over the responsibility to the
local government bodied to conduct a survey on the shortcomings of the
implementation process of the state language policy.

The Ministry further added that Minister Vasudeva Nanayakara will hold
discussions with the local government body heads in order to find a
suitable process regarding this matter.
