Victorian education department launches New language policy
Added by Peter on November 8, 2011 at 9:49am
DEECD, 为维多利亚教育部, Has launched a new language policy yesterday by
minister Dixon. The policy has given millions to community languages
schools and program support over the next few years in Victoria ,
and promised a compulsory language program for all Victorian day
schools schools by 2025.
No indication has been given in the policy as to how this policy
will be funded in day schools in the document. However new training
scholarships have been announced to community languge schools to
improve their level of teaching through VET Cert IV programs. Also
increased funding for students attending after hours programs.
Other features of the program include $100,000 to start sister school
programs and some extra money to day school teacher training.
In terms of dollar funding, according to the last state budget , this
represents a drop in funding for day school (Government, Catholic
and Independ schools) programs in real terms to to run their language
programs.
