The School of Education in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State
University seeks a senior leader as a Professor or Associate Professor in
Spanish-English Dual Immersion. In the newly created Ester Catherine Harmon
Endowed Professorship, we seek a dynamic Associate or Full Professor to
develop a burgeoning teaching and research program into what we envision as
a leading program in the state and Midwest in Dual Immersion education.

The Harmon Endowed Professor will provide leadership in the teaching of
students in communities in Iowa where there is a growing school population
of students for whom Spanish is a first language.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong record of scholarship and
commitment to Dual Immersion education at the elementary level in which the
goal for all students is bilingualism and biliteracy in English and another
language, particularly Spanish.  The Harmon Endowed Professor should be a
faculty member who has an excellent record of continuing academic achievement.
This Professorship will have a tenured home in the School of Education, with
faculty responsibilities divided between teaching, research, service, and
outreach. This is an opportunity to work with a dynamic and growing faculty
in literacy, STEM, social justice, English learners, and World Languages and
Culture, and to grow a preservice and graduate program.
