Implementing the National Language Policy: Translators' Pool successful

National Language and Social Integration Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara
said the Translators' Pool, established in association with the
National Languages Department consisting of translation experts to
ensure the correct and efficient functioning of the National Language
Policy in the country, has received positive responses from diverse
institutes, organizations and people.

The minister expressed these views at a discussion on the ministry's
action plan for 2012.

The minister added that it was a pleasure to receive these positive
responses about the Translators' Pool and said he hoped it would help
Sri Lankans to carry out their work at government offices in their
mother tongues and in the execution of the National Language Policy.

The minister added that it was his intention to further strengthen and
expand this Pool and added that anybody can obtain information about
the services of the Translators' Pool by writing to Bhasha Mandiraya,
Rajagiriya, Colombo or by contacting 011288894 or visiting the website
www.languagesdep.gov.lk

He added that it was of great value to the people that one could
obtain the translation services of the Pool by paying the amount that
is specifically indicated in the government circulars.

The Secretary, Section Heads and Administrative Officers of the
ministry took part in these discussions.
