Threatened Languages of France - This Saturday!

ELA cordially invites you to an event this Saturday...****

** **

*Threatened Languages of France and Surrounds*

1-3 pm, Saturday, March 31st, Room 5414, CUNY Graduate Center, 365 5th
Ave., NYC****

A panel discussion with Charles Kergaravat, president BZH New York;
Marie-Reine Jezequel of the Diwan movement; Thierry Kranzer, President of
l’Union Alsacienne de NY, Secretary General of the Committee of French
Associations of NY; Juliette Blevins, Endangered Language Initiative;
Daniel Kaufman, Endangered Language Alliance, and others.

This event is scheduled to coincide with similar events going on throughout
France the same day in support of regional and minority languages. French
is the only official language of France, though dozens would qualify under
the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages. France is one of
the only major Western European countries that has not ratified this
Charter. Please join us to discuss issues related to minority languages of
France and surrounding countries!****
