Ukraine's parliament sitting closed due to scuffle over language policy bill
20:23
A scuffle between representatives of the parliamentary majority and
opposition started in the session hall of the Verkhovna Rada following
a debate on the bill on the fundamental principles of the language
policy.
After the debate, lawmakers from the Our Ukraine - People's
Self-Defense faction and the BYT-Batkivschyna faction broke into the
parliament's presidium guarded by members of the Party of Regions
faction. A fight followed, an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported.
The lawmakers currently stopped the fight. Verkhovna Rada Chairman
Volodymyr Lytvyn closed the parliament's meeting.
