Language law was not adopted due to the elections, Azarov declares


Prime Minister and leader of the Party of Regions Mykola Azarov denies
pre-election option of the adoption of the law on principles of the
state language policy, he said during a conversation with writer
Andriy Kurkov. "This issue affects a very wide range. Some people say
that the law was adopted due to the elections, but this is not true,
because the elections come and go away, but the situation remains
after the adoption of this or that law," Azarov said.

The Prime Minister added that many people distort often the situation
with the adoption of this law. "I have the impression that people
either do not know the situation or deliberately distort it," Azarov
said. He said that the authorities in any case do not want to stop the
Ukrainian language development.

The Prime Minister noted that the working group will look into the
refinement of the law and will be engaged in the development
activities for the Ukrainian language, as well as other languages,
which the Ukrainian residents want to talk in.
