Turchynov Refuses To Approve Repeal Of Language Law Until Adoption of New
One (21:20, Monday, March 3, 2014)
*Ukrainian News Agency* <http://un.ua>
Oleksandr Turchynov, the acting president, the chairman of the Verkhovna
Rada, will not approve repealing of the Law of Ukraine on Principles of the
State Language Policy until a new bill is finally drafted and adopted.
He has said this at a news briefing in Parliament.
"Despite the unbalanced and unprofessionally prepared law on languages I
will not sign a parliament decision to repeal it until a working group to
be formed tomorrow draft a new law and the Verkhovna Rada passes it," the
acting president noted.
Turchynov stressed Ukraine would not impose any language, national and
religious restrictions.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, on February 23 Rada declared the Law on
Principles of the State Language Policy null and void.
A total of 332 parliament member approved draft law No. 1190 taking it as
basis.
