Corporation bank receives Indira Gandhi official language awards from
President

MANGALURU: City based Corporation Bank received Indira Gandhi Official
Language Awards instituted by Department of Official Language, Union
Ministry of Home Affairs at New Delhi on Saturday. Corporation Bank
received the first prize under Town Official Language Implementation
Committee (TOLIC) category and second prize under Nationalized Banks
category. Pranab Mukherjee, President of India presented the awards.
S R Bansal, chairman and managing director of the Bank received the awards
on behalf of the Bank. Corporation Bank has been a pioneer in the
implementation of the Official Language Policy. The Bank has achieved many
milestones in the implementation of official language. The Bank is convener
of TOLIC, Mangalore constituted under the aegis of Union Ministry of Home
Affairs.
Chairman and Managing Director of Corporation Bank is the chairman of this
committee that comprises 35 offices of the Central Government, 18 offices
of public sector and 30 banks as its members. It is one of India's best
performing committee. Besides enhancing the usage of official language
Hindi in government offices and in the offices of TOLIC, Corporation Bank
has taken Hindi language to the masses through many innovative functions.
