important for Russia — concept MOSCOW, December 25. /TASS/. Some political
elites abroad are carrying out a deliberate policy of repressing the
Russian language, State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin said in an interview
with Rossiya 24 TV channel broadcast on Friday. "We can say that there are
obstacles, sometimes maybe even from separate political groups or political
elites of several countries, there are even elements of a deliberate policy
of repressing the Russian language and, consequently, on violating the
rights of citizens that think and talk in Russian. Of course, this can be
described as a violation of fundamental norms and rules and of morals,"
Naryshkin said. Language and cultural diversity is a factor that
contributes to forming a multi-polar world and hampers the distribution of
"barbarian" ideologies, he continued. "That is why Russia will do
everything possible to support the promotion of the Russian language,
Russian literature outside our country. This includes programs of
humanitarian cooperation, of teaching in the Russian language in
universities, as well as organizational, methodical and to some extent
financial support for Russian school outside of Russia," the speaker noted
adding that there is great interest in the world to the Russian language
and Russian literature.
