Dear Colleagues,

The American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) is excited to announce the inaugural cycle of the AAAL Book Award recognizing outstanding work in the field of applied linguistics. With this award, the association honors high quality books that make an exceptional contribution to the field as a whole or to a specific area of specialization. The Book Award will be given biennially, alternating every other year with the AAAL First Book Award which will be launched in 2016.

Nominations for the Book Award are made directly by publishers, who may submit up to two different titles for award consideration. For the present 2015 award cycle, books with copyright dates of 2013 or 2014 are eligible. While priority will be given to monographs, truly exceptional edited volumes will also be considered.

In bestowing this award, AAAL seeks to raise awareness about outstanding work in applied linguistics and its impact on both the research community and society more widely. More information about eligibility and submission procedures is also available on the AAAL website: http://www.aaal.org/content.asp?admin=Y&contentid=223

Sincerely,

Dr. Aneta Pavlenko

President of theAmerican Association for Applied Linguistics
