Sorry it doesn’t work for you, Joe, but thanks for the message. We were constrained on dates by the availability of the space. A May date would have worked better.
But attendance is looking pretty good: 74 at last count.

Dear Humphrey,
Thanks again for including me on your list. Unfortunately, and unsurprisingly, end-of-semester busyness
keeps me on campus all day on the 22nd.
I hope another, similar opportunty arises before too long.
Best,
Joe

Suzanne Romaine will be the keynote speaker at the Symposium on Language and the Sustainable Development Goals taking place in New York on April 21 and 22. The symposium, to be held at 777 UN Plaza, New York, will bring together speakers from nine countries and the UN to discuss the linguistic implications of the SDGs. The SDGs will form the basis of the United Nations’ development agenda for the period 2015-2030. Very little attention has been paid to the role, and consequences, of linguistic diversity in the implementation of the SDGs, despite strong rhetorical emphasis on inclusiveness and on two-way communication with the populations involved. Registration for the Symposium is still open at www.languageandtheun.org<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__www.languageandtheun.org&d=AwMFAg&c=-dg2m7zWuuDZ0MUcV7Sdqw&r=6Q6bVjdwwrRdYYzQGvrTT54wn3rI4RIsQAf5uuGzfLI&m=Hr14-FcaVyQrZcjm2W9VWqdK0lVlPIL5G8d7JATQ-cY&s=e_rJqsP-4HEYT5HnLKZvXGKwDo-Ugi05-JDfkFoMbHc&e=>. The symposium is being organized by the Study Group on Language and the United Nations. Sponsors include the Center for Applied Linguistics, the Universal Esperanto Association, and the journal Language Problems and Language Planning.
