Description:

The University of Mannheim, Department of English invites applications for a full-time W 1- Junior Professorship for "Multilingualism Research"

The specialization for the junior professorship contributes to the extension of multilingualism research as an interdisciplinary topic at the University of Mannheim. The successful candidate will have a forward-looking research program with the potential to attract external funding and internal cooperation. The prospective junior professor will have demonstrated expertise (in research and teaching) in research on multilingualism with a focus on experimental psycholinguistics. 

The teaching load includes two 90-minute seminar courses in each 14-week semester in psycholinguistics and/or applied linguistics. Teaching will be in English and German. The candidate is also expected to supervise BA and MA theses.

According to State law (� 51 Landeshochschulgesetz (LGH) Baden-W�rttemberg), preconditions for the appointment as a Junior Professor include a completed university education, teaching skills, and a special qualification for academic work, which is usually demonstrated though an outstanding PhD thesis. International experience, an outstanding publication record and a teaching record are advantageous. Appointments are made according to �� 51 Abs. 7 and 8 LHG. The appointment will be made for up to three years in the first instance and can be extended to up to six years in total, conditional upon a positive evaluation.
