Dear colleagues,
The English graduate students at The University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB) had for several years been publishing a scholarly journal titled Journal of South Texas English Studies (JOSTES). It appeared in Spring and Winter and has been online and peer-reviewed. The journal went on hiatus during the transition to The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), and is now being relaunched as part of UTRGV with a themed issue on 'Rebirth'. The journal website is active now:
http://www.southtexasenglish.blogspot.com/
JOSTES has always welcomed submissions from English grad students and faculty, and we would like to maintain that character. This alone makes it a good complement to the existing publication RiverSedge, which is not open to UTRGV affiliates. In the past JOSTES published creative writing pieces, but this has been discontinued, so as not to compete with Gallery. Please see the attached CFP for papers that are scholarly and research focused, investigating topics in rhet/comp, literacy issues, teaching/pedagagy, sociolinguistics, cultural studies, and literary analysis, for example. The deadline for submissions for the 'Rebirth' issue is now April 8, 2016. Submission guidelines are available here:

Please spread the word to colleagues and friends. We look forward to your submissions!
