Karnataka Knowledge Commission (KKC) has said that science and mathematics
could be taught in English from class 5 onwards while other subjects such
as geography and history could be taught in the selected medium of
instruction of the student.
>From class 8 to 10, it urged the government to adopt two-language formula —
with medium of instruction and one additional language as per choice of
student; and for class 11 and 12, it recommended one language which is the
medium of instruction as per choice of student.
“Such a language policy will enable a multilingual education in the State
by which students will be exposed to Kannada, English, Hindi and other
languages too,” the KKC said.
