The Department of Educational Sciences at Lund University has an opening
for a PhD in education with a specialization in English teaching.

Note that in addition to general qualifications for doctoral study,
substantial attention is paid to a thoroughly developed doctoral research
project proposal, which should have a well-developed introduction,

implementation.  Doctoral study is for four years, and it is a salaried
position in Sweden.
