The law on the Ukrainian national language should not be opportunistic.
This opinion was expressed by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko,
speaking to Lviv at the celebrations posvyashennyh the 150th anniversary of
the creation of a society “Prosvita”, reports “Interfax-Ukraine”.
According to Poroshenko, the corresponding zakonoproekt was adopted by the
Verkhovna Rada in the first reading. It aims to ensure the functioning of
Ukrainian as the state language.
“I was not a supporter of that consideration took place on the eve of the
election campaign. I don’t want someone speculated on this subject, because
language is not a subject for speculation. Strategic for Ukraine the law
must be clearly stripped of any situation “, – said Poroshenko.
Poroshenko said that this law if passed, it should be “forever”.
The head of state also expressed confidence in the future membership of
Ukraine in the European Union, therefore, according to the guarantor, the
law should be harmonized with European models of language policy.
As reported, on 4 October, the Verkhovna Rada endorsed the first reading of
a bill (No. 5670-d) on ensuring of functioning of Ukrainian as the state
language.
The bill provides for the establishment of the Commissioner for the
protection of the state language. Functions of the Commissioner will be the
protection of the Ukrainian language as an element of the constitutional
order, and protection of the rights of citizens to receive the state
language information and services in all spheres of public life throughout
the country.
It is proposed to introduce administrative responsibility for violation of
legislation in the sphere of using state language.
In addition, there is a criminal responsibility for “public humiliation and
disregard for the state language”.
Earlier Znayu reported that the Russian language “verse” officially in
another region. So, in Ivano-Frankivsk region passed the moratorium on
Russian-speaking cultural product until the termination of occupation by
the aggressor of the Crimea and the Donbass. All television, radio, plays,
concerts and other cultural events must now take place in the state
language.
Recall “I don’t know Ukrainian? Talking to Putin? Go to Russia” – the
supermarket buyers have schooled the cashier, who “forgot where he lives.
By the way, this language scandal in one supermarket – scored relatively
serious momentum. Even had to involve the cops.
As for the cops and supermarkets, that is the story that ended very badly.
Our portal has previously written about 24-year-old buyer, who was accused
of stealing products in the Kharkiv supermarket “Growth” and is shot by a
police officer. However, it was not this young man an innocent victim. He
lashed out at police with a knife and inflicted several wounds, the COP
shot in self-defense. T
