Northern Policy Institute is pleased to announce the addition of two new
directors to our team, John Beaucage and Diana Fuller Henninger. These new
directors add to an already diverse and knowledgeable board, whose role is
to set the strategic direction of NPI.

“Northern Policy Institute is thrilled to have John Beaucage and Diana
Fuller Henninger join our Board of Directors,” stated NPI Chair Thérèse
Bergeron-Hopson. “Their unique experiences, vast knowledge, and dedication
to northern communities will be sure to energize our organization.”

A citizen of Wasauksing First Nation, John Beaucage served as the Grand
Council Chief of the Anishinabek Nation between 2004 and 2008. An economist
by education, John has worked tirelessly on many issues, including
Indigenous child welfare and health, green energy projects with First
Nations, land disputes, language policy and housing, spending over 15 years
with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and serving as the
Co-chair for First Ministers’ Working Groups for both Housing and
Relationships.

Raised in Kingston, Diana Fuller Henninger moved to Sudbury in 1978 as a
young lawyer and became Northern Ontario’s first female assistant crown
attorney, and later first female Regional Director of Crown Attorneys. In
2009 she took over Henninger’s Diesel Ltd. For her achievements, Henninger
won the Influential Women entrepreneur of the year award in 2015.

In addition to welcoming new directors, NPI would like to congratulate
Bergeron-Hopson in her new role as Chair and Harley d’Entremont in his new
role as Vice-Chair. “We celebrate their commitment to Northern Ontario
communities and thank them for their vision and dedication to the work of
Northern Policy Institute,” stated NPI President & CEO Charles Cirtwill.

Northern Policy Institute is currently recruiting new Directors. If you
would like to volunteer for a position on NPI’s Board, please fill out a
form at www.northernpolicy.ca/volunteer and we will contact you with more
information.
Membership of the Board of Directors is for renewable three year terms.
Selection is made by the members of Northern Policy Institute on the
recommendation of the organization’s Directors. The Governance and
Nominating Committee review applicants annually and puts forward
recommendations to fill vacancies according to the limits and criteria
outlined in the Northern Policy Institute Bylaws.
