Translators are losing jobs to AI that produces "consistently mediocre
results"
Analysis suggests a 70% chance of automation for interpreters and
translators. Rates for AI post-editing have cratered to 50-70% of what
human translation used to pay — typically $0.05-$0.15 per word compared to
$0.15-$0.30 for human work. Many translators describe a dramatic disruption
in wages and working conditions since OpenAI's rise.
