Creolization? Or Globalization?

Friends,

Another good (in my opinion) resource for thinking about changes
brought about through linguistic and cultural contact is:

Mintz, S. and R. Price. 1992. The birth of African-American
culture: an anthropological perspective. Boston: Beacon Press.

They strongly acknowledge the creative, active part which West
Africans played in the development of African-American language and
culture. They also discuss the transfer of underlying linguistic and
cultural categories in the process; categories which may not be
apparent on the surface, but which are present in the deep structure
of language and culture.
