Position: Assistant Professor, Tenure Track
STARTING DATE: August 2000

MINIMUM	Ph.D. in anthropology with specialization in cultural
QUALIFICATIONS:	anthropology is required.  Primary emphasis in language and
culture. The successful candidate must demonstrate a record of successful
scholarly and/or creative activity and demonstrated potential for effective
teaching using a variety of methodologies including active, experiential
learning. Demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a multi-ethnic,
multi-cultural environment.

PREFERRED	In addition to expertise in language and culture, we see an
individual with training in cross-cultural healing systems and/or medical
anthropology. The successful candidate will be broadly trained in the four
field approach in anthropology and have a commitment to teaching
anthropology as an important facet of a well-rounded education.  In
addition, candidates should demonstrate potential for successful competition
for grants and contracts leading in support of scholarly and/or applied
research involving advanced undergraduates and graduate students.

SALARY RANGE:Salary range is $40,488-46,488
