CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

AFLA 2000 / SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE
Paris, July 6 - 8



Under the auspices of their third International Conference on Applied
Linguistics, the French Association of Applied Linguistics (AFLA) organises
a scientific conference. This will cover two themes:

- the automatic processing of language
- language dysfonctions and learning difficulties of language and languages

The conference will be held on the Jussieu Campus in the heart of Paris
 from Thursday 6th of July to Saturday the 8th of July 2000.

The dead line for early registration is June 10.

Theme 1: the automatic processing of language
- Christian Fluhr (CEA) : Recherche d'information dans une economie
mondialisee :
enjeux, methodes, outils.
- Lou Burnard (Oxford) : TEI XML : Electronic Texts for humanities research.
- Johann Haller (IAI, Saarbrücken) : Research and Development in the
field of Controlled Languages. Language Technology at IAI.

Theme 2: language dysfonctions and learning difficulties of language and
languages
- Michel Paradis (Montreal) : Ce que la pathologie nous apprend sur les
mecanismes cerebraux utilises differemment selon l'age et la methode
d'acquisition d'une L2.
- Jacqueline Leybaert (UL Bruxelles) : Le role des habiletes
phonologiques dans l'acquistion de l'orthographe : evidence provenant
d'enfants sourds et dysphasiques.
- Mireille Besson (CNRS-Marseille) : De l'utilisation de l'Imagerie
Cerebrale pour etudier le langage.
