What about "Anthropology Through Science Fiction" edited by Caarol
Mason, Martin Harry Greenberg, & Patricia Warrick, St. Martin's Press,
1974. It's a collection of short stories (A.E.Van Vogt, Frederic Brown,
Isaac Asimov, Poul Anderson, etc. etc.) chosen to illustrate
anthropological concepts (origins, evolution, living in groups,
environmental settings, tools & adaptation, civilization, religion,
awareness of diversity....) at least as they were construed in the
1970s. Uses actual stories or excerpts and provides introductory
discussions for each section. It's a fun book which students might
relate to. --Harriet Ottenheimer
