Dear Colleagues,
Please forward this to any lists or persons where it might do good.
Every year the American University in Cairo offers a scholarship to an outstanding student from abroad to enable them to pursue a Master's degree in sociology-anthropology. This year's candidate suffered a family crisis and was unable to accept her scholarship.
This means I have a two-year, full-ride scholarship to give away beginning Spring semester 2001. The official announcement is attached.
The scholarship covers tuition, housing, medical coverage and a stipend for two years plus the summer semester in between. Students must have a minimum 3.4 GPA on a 4 point scale and be citizens of another country than Egypt to be eligible. Summer scholarships for the intensive language program in Arabic at AUC's Arabic Language Institute are available to students accepted into the program.
The deadline is November 9th. Applicants will be informed by Dec. 5th.
One applies by:
1) filling out and submitting an application for an MA in Sociology-Anthropology at AUC. You can get these applications from the New York office if you live in the U.S or from then university. Addresses are on the attached form. Or download the application at http://www.aucegypt.edu/graduate
2) including a cover letter with the application stating that you are applying for the International Graduate Fellowship
3) sending a notice that you are applying for this fellowship to the international graduate student office (aucgrad at aucegypt.edu) This last step is not required by the university but allows the graduate office to track applicants in case something slows the file down in the admissions office.
Students who require more information on the fellwoship should contact Sawsan Mardini at aucgrad at aucegypt.edu. Students who wish to know more about the MA program in sociology-anthropology should contact me at peterson at aucegypt.edu.
