Hello all,

Although I support a winding down of this topic -- it seems people have
stated their positions, and it also seems that few if any are likely to
change them -- I am displeased with ad hominem attacks.

This is not a moderated list, unlike some, so we cannot weed out
personal insults masquerading as intellectual debate.  I would rather
participate in a list where each member moderates him-/herself and
refrains from flaming or nastiness.
