The SLA announces once again the Student Essay Prize for 2001. We invite
submissions of papers from graduate and advanced undergraduate students.
The prize is several hundred dollars plus the chance to have your paper
considered for publication in the Journal of Linguistic Anthropology.
(Notice to grad students: this kind of thing looks great on your CV.) The
deadline has been extended to January 1. Please send submssions to: S. Gal,
