New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival

The Jazz Festival offers a creative environment, with plenty of hard work.
Producing the Jazz Festival involves months of office work followed by over
a month working on-site before, during and after the event. All applicants
should have the ability to work at a rapid pace in a high pressure,
production setting, with a positive "do whatever it takes" attitude.
? Cultural Programs Coordinator - Crafts Department
(September 1, 2002- June 15, 2003) - Full Time Seasonal Position
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival continues to grow as an important
venue for folk artists and for public sector education. In its 32-year
history, the Festival has been committed to the presentation, preservation
and promotion of music, crafts and culture. The Festival is now seeking a
creative, energetic person who can build programs - enhancing the annual
presentation of regional folk artists, producing cultural presentations of
featured nations that share cultural roots with southern Louisiana, and
developing year-round folk programming in the community.
Responsibilities include:
*       Overseeing the production of the Festival Cultural Programs,
including the Louisiana Folklife Village, Louisiana Marketplace, Folk
Heritage Stage, Native American Village, Cultural Exchange Pavilion, and the
Grandstand
*       Programming folk presentations
*       Performing research and fieldwork
*       Managing grant research, applications and reports
*       Supervising staff and managing budgets

Seeking candidates with folklife and public programming background,
experience in writing and managing grants, managing budgets, supervising and
managing staff, and event production. Must have strong office
administration, verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills, and have ability
to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines. Must be proficient in MS
Word and Excel. Prefer advanced degree in folklife, anthropology or related
field, or equivalent experience. Some light lifting and stamina for long
production days is required.
