SLA student essay prize winners

The Society for Linguistic Anthropology is pleased to announce the
co-winners of the 2001-2002 Student Essay Prize:

Eleanor Culley (University of Virginia) "Learning to Listen:  Confronting
Two Meanings of 'Language Loss' in the Contemporary White Mountain Speech
Community"

and

Jonathan Larson (University of Michigan)  "Ambiguous Transparency: Resume
Fetishism in a Slovak Workshop"

We also would like to thank other students for their fine submissions.

Submission guidelines for the 2002-2003 SLA Student Essay Prize will appear
in the September issue of the Anthropology Newsletter, and will be posted
to this listserve.
