ANTHROPOLOGY

The Department of Anthropology of Trent University seeks applications for a
tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in linguistic
anthropology to begin July 1, 2003. Preference will be given to applicants
with a Ph.D. An active research program and commitment to excellence in
teaching is required. Short-listed candidates will be asked to submit a
teaching dossier and copies of publications. The successful candidate will
be required to teach at the introductory level, including a second-year
course in ³language, culture, and society², and upper level courses.
Possible areas of teaching and research specialization include: language and
gender; language and power; language and identity; language and education;
language and communication; and/or nonverbal communication. Applicants

plus specialty courses at the upper-year level. Candidates from all
