For Japanese rap music, Ian Condry (MIT) has published quite a bit, has
a book on it forthcoming from Duke,  and may also mention uchina rap.
James Roberson has been working on Okinawan popular music (called uchina
pop) for a few years and may say something about it. He has an article
in Critical Asian Studies about it.
