Hello all. I am wondering, in the phrase "time flies like an arrow"
whether "like an arrow" should be considered a prepositional phrase
("like" is sometimes listed as a minor preposition) or an adverbial
phrase ("like an arrow" substitutes nicely for "quickly" and other
adverbs and perhaps therefore should be considered an adverbial
phrase). I would appreciate any thoughts you all may have on this. All
best, --Harriet Ottenheimer
